My fishing mate Dom asks me out to lunch at Hosokawa today. It's been 18 months since my last visit when I rated our lunch 4.0/5.0 Arriving at 11.40am I am surprised to see only 3 vacant tables. I see two waitresses run off their feet taking orders and serving meals. Menus are provided and I ask for Green Tea which is promptly delivered, flavourful and piping hot. When our lunch order is taken, I notice the vacant tables are now occupied and many of the diners are Japanese or Chinese. Our teacups are topped up by the attentive waitress. The Gyoza arrives with a dipping sauce. They are freshly made then pan fried and the pork filling is fresh. The best Gyoza I have tasted for some time. Rating: 5.0/5.0 Our mains arrive minutes after we finish the entree. My Sashimi Set ($21) includes rice and miso soup. The huge thick slices of fresh Salmon, King Fish and Tuna are mesmerising. The scallop, slice of squid and octopus are just as fresh. I finish off my meal with a slice of salt and vinegar cured mackerel. My best Sashimi meal for some time. Rating: 5.0/5.0 Dom is a regular as he lives within walking distance of Racecourse Rd. He recommended Hosokawa to me many years ago. He thoroughly enjoys his Chirashi Set ($24) which includes a Miso Soup and Pickles. Rating: 5.0/5.0 I walk in to the sashimi counter to thank the Chef for our wonderful meal. Both him and the wait staff openly show their appreciation. Smiles all round, a great way to leave a restaurant. My first perfect rating for a Brisbane restaurant. Congratulations and Domo Arigato Hosokawa!

The best Japanese restaurant in Brisbane in terms of the quality for price. We always leave happy. If you want good Japanese food, you need to go to a restaurant with a genuine Japanese chef, like this one. Recommend booking especially for dinner.

I come here as often as I can, particularly when my dad is visiting from out of town. We love having a lunch date here, the menu is excellent and portions are fairly generous. For a timid raw sushi eater such as myself, the thick-cut sashimi can be a bit confronting, but I see lots of Japanese clientele so the restaurant is obviously staying true to their cuisine. Love it!

I hadn't visited for a few years, but today's lunchtime chirashi was superb. A very generous serve of tasty, fresh fish atop perfect sushi rice. Oishi!

I have been here more than 5 times and honestly there is no other place I would go in Brisbane for fresh thick sashimi slices!! Make sure to go at lunchtime to order one of the lunch specials, most priced around $20! I always get the chirashi bowl. Definitely worth your value for money and you get miso soup on the side! Also maybe if you timed lunch well, Milani gelato next door will be open and can grab some dessert.. ;)

Possibly the best Sushi place in Brisbane.Hosokawa offers a friendly environment for Sushi eaters. The price of the meals is what you would expect for the quality of the dishes. The wasabi is a must try! It's really unique and packs a fresh kick to it!

I dined at Cruisers recently and it was a very positive and enjoyable experience. Our host and owner Michael and his staff were very welcoming and attentive to our needs. I had the naughty pork crackling and cheesy garlic bread for starters, the eye fillet steak for main and a selection of desserts to finish off with. The pork crackling was cooked to perfection, light and crispy from start to finish with just the right dusting of salt (I felt very naughty after eating two pieces). The cheesy garlic bread was cheesy and garlicky and quite delicious too. I ordered the eye fillet - medium rare with (field) mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes and veggies which comprised of a well proportioned side of sauteed broccoli. The steak was cooked beautifully. It was tender and delicious as was the mushroom sauce. I ordered a piece of raspberry and white chocolate gateau (freshly made earlier that same day) to go, which they happily set aside in a take away container with a generous helping of fresh cream. I later finished the gateau off in very quick fashion as it was scrumptious. It was solid yet light, not sickly sweet but again just right. In the meantime back at Cruisers we (a table of five) shared the passionfruit cheesecake and chocolate fudge brownie/cookie with ice cream for dessert. Both equally scrumptious. I particularly like cheese cake and their passionfruit cheesecake was delicious. I fought hard to not eat more than my fair share (I may have failed). Pricing was commensurate with quality of food and the location.<br> <br> I definitely recommend Cruisers to anyone wanting a delicious meal in a relaxing environment at a reasonable price. I will definitely be going again.
